What can professors see on Panopto? ›

The User Dashboard feature allows an Administrator or Creator the ability to see viewing statistics for sessions a user has viewed as well as for sessions the user has created. Administrators can access statistics for all users, while Creators can see statistics for users that have viewed at least one of their videos.

Click on Settings. Click on the Quiz Results tab. Review results summary or download a copy (downloaded file opens as a CSV excel file).

With Panopto, students can record multimedia presentations as homework assignments using their laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Instructors can then review each student's video on-demand, and provide comments and feedback directly in the recording.

Panopto Capture allows a user to easily record audio, video, and screens or applications. A user can access Panopto Capture directly within their browser instead of downloading the desktop application.

Do professors have access to student records? Yes, although it may depend on the institution. That said, a professor should only access student records if there is a particular reason to do so - academic advising or writing letters of recommendation or something.

You should get the consent of your professor before pressing “record”. Some may ask: if you do it discreetly, is it really a crime? The fact is, it very well may infringe copyright laws of the professor's intellectual property, especially if you intend to share these recordings beyond your own personal use.

If you have a video that is 10 minutes long, and a user watches the video at 1.25x speed, Panopto will report that the user has watched all 10 minutes, aka 100% completion. Viewer playback speed, faster or slower, does not affect the viewer completion percentages.

In general terms, a transcript is all of the captions collated into a document. You can easily create a transcript using the automatically generated captions.

Panopto-Zoom Integration

The Zoom Cloud recording will be automatically imported into Panopto for further manipulation. Our recommendation is that if is a synchronous, live session, then use Zoom to record. If it is pre-recorded and meant for consumption later, use Panopto.

Can everyone see my Panopto video? ›

Public (unlisted): Anyone with whom you've shared the link can access the video. Public: Anyone can find and access this video. Your Organization & Public (unlisted): Anyone at your organization can find and access the video, and anyone who has the link can access the video.

Faculty and administrators can easily view reports in Panopto that show which students watched each video, how long students watched videos before dropping off, and more.

Private Recordings are only visible to instructors, TAs, and course designers. They can be found inside the Private Recordings folder on the Panopto Recordings Canvas page. You can choose to keep them private, send them to individual students, or publish them for the entire class to view.

When the session is reopened, Panopto resumes recording viewer engagement. Each viewing session is tracked independently, so you'll be able to verify if a computer/browser crash is the reason for an incomplete viewing.

Personal Folders provides users with a private sandbox for creating and sharing videos. Administrators can choose whether or not a user has a My Folder.
