Still searching for the perfect low carb pizza? Cauliflower crust pizza seems to be all the craze lately… but not all are created the same. So be sure to check the nutrition facts on the label before buying to make sure it’s really low in carbs!
Real Good Foods just came out with a new and improved frozen cauliflower pizza that’s even better tasting than the original version. And it’s a great low carb choice as there’s just 9 grams of total carbs per serving. Each serving is a quarter slice of the pizza and with 3 grams of fiber, the net carb count is only 6 grams.
CauliPower makes a cauliflower crust pizza but it's nutritional profile isn't low carb. In fact, CauliPower’s has the same/if not worst nutritional profile as DiGiorno’s thin and crispy pizza…crazy right? That's because the CauliPower crust contains brown rice flour which isn't keto friendly.
I decided to do a side by side comparison of the two frozen cauliflower crust pizzas so you can really see the difference. Even if you aren’t following a low carb eating plan, the Real Good frozen pizza is a better choice in my opinion because the crust has a better taste and texture.
Real Good Pizza Review
For this review, I’m comparing the Real Good Foods Margherita to the Three Cheese pizza by CauliPower. The first noticeable difference is right on the label.
Carbs Per Serving
The serving size of CauliPower is a little larger at ½ the pie versus the ¼ pie for the Real Good Foods one. But even if you compare gram for gram, Real Good still has a lot less carbs than CauliPower. That’s because they use keto friendly ingredients without adding any high carb flour.
Just out of the box, both pizzas look fairly similar. But the toppings are a little different as I wasn’t able to find a Margherita version of CauliPower. This review is really just a comparison of the crust, anyway.
Which Crust Tastes Best?
After baking, the frozen cauliflower crust pizza by Real Good Foods did brown up much better. And although it's not a "cheese" pizza, it does have a much thicker layer of cheese. But like I said, I really wanted to focus on the crust and not the toppings.
The crust is noticeably different in taste and texture when comparing the two brands. The CauliPower cauliflower pizza crust is thinner and has a somewhat cardboard texture. The Real Good crust is thicker and softer more like a bread. After taking a bite of both, I definitely prefer the taste and texture of the Real Good pizza versus the higher carb one made by Caulipower!
What I love about Real Good Food pizza is that it has a great nutrition profile for those on a low carb keto diet and it’s just as delicious as a high carb pizza. Plus, it’s convenient and reasonably priced. I also love that the crust is made with some of the same ingredients I’d use myself like cauliflower, egg, and cheese. There’s also almond flour and coconut flour added which give the crust a more bread like texture.

All the pizzas are made with traditional red pizza sauce. If I had to choose which one I like best, it would be the Margherita which has a generous amount of cheese and fresh tomatoes on top. But they all taste great so I like to keep a variety on hand for quick low carb meals.

If you can’t find the product locally, it wouldn’t hurt to ask your favorite store to carry it. That way, you can just pick up one of these delicious keto frozen pizzas any time.
Cauliflower pizza crust can fit gluten-free, diabetes-friendly, low carb, or weight loss diets. Cauliflower has recently skyrocketed in popularity since it can be used to lower the carb and calorie content of many traditionally high carb foods, such as pizza.
As for carbs, cauliflower pizza crust comes in at 16 grams of carbohydrates. Compared to our deep dish, gluten-free, original, and skinny crusts, cauliflower crust is middle of the road for carbohydrates. It's equivalent to a deep dish, which has 15 grams of carbohydrates.
Cauliflower itself isn't bringing the carbohydrates to the table–it's everything else that gets mixed in to complete the crust. Ingredients like rice flour, tapioca starch, corn starch, and sugar add to the carb count of some cauliflower crusts you buy at the store.
The premade cauliflower crusts in your local grocery store or pizza restaurant are rarely crafted with the keto diet in mind. If you check the ingredients, you are likely to find corn starch, corn flour, potato starch, chickpea flour, potato flour, and/or tapioca starch.
Several major chains provide low-carb options by using alternative crust options—commonly, cauliflower crust. Pizza Hut, Domino's, California Pizza Kitchen, Blaze, and Papa Murphy's are among the popular chains with cauliflower-crust pizzas on their menu.
Obviously, cauliflower pizza is more “diabetes friendly” than traditional types of pizza with flour crust. It's not rocket science — fewer carbs means less spiking of glucose levels, so there's no need to “chase it” with large amounts of insulin.
How many carbs in keto pizza? Each slice of this recipe has just 2 grams of net carbs each, and the entire pizza crust has just 8 grams of carbs. Can I substitute the almond flour for coconut flour? Do not replace the almond flour for coconut flour.
Both the cauliflower crust and the whole-wheat crust offer fiber and protein, which play a key role in weight loss by helping to keep you feeling full and satisfied after a meal. But if you're not trying to cut carbs and are looking for that traditional pizza pie flavor, the whole-wheat crust is what you want.
Opt for a thin-crust pizza instead of a deep-dish. Skip the stuffed pizza crusts and dipping sauces. Enjoy your slice of pizza with a side salad or cooked vegetables. Top your pizza with lean protein, like chicken strips, instead of processed meat, like pepperoni.
How Much Cauliflower Can You Eat on a Keto Diet? The Harvard School of Public Health recommends that people eat no more than 50 grams of carbohydrates per day while on a keto diet. You can eat up to 900 grams of cauliflower per day when on a ketogenic diet because 100 grams of it only contains 5 grams of carbohydrates.
Especially if your goal is weight loss, having a piece of pizza, a bowl of pasta, or cake, is absolutely something that can be added into your routine once in a while. Introducing carbs can kick you out of ketosis but eating more carbs on a given meal or given day will not ruin any weight loss goals you have.
This is probably one of the most popular types of keto pizza bases. The base is made from riced cauliflower. Fresh cauliflower is steamed until it is tender then grated or ground with a food processor. While you can purchase cauliflower flour from a grocery store, it is better not to.
“Cauliflower is another vegetable that's low in carbs, but also very high in vitamins and phytochemicals,” Fear says. Add chopped cauliflower to your salads, or top with paprika and garlic powder and roast in the oven. Riced cauliflower also makes a great low-carb replacement for traditional rice.
A slice of cauliflower pizza, on the other hand, can have as few as 3-5 grams of carb! The cauliflower pizza takes longer to work it's way into the blood stream than the flour-made stuff, so it doesn't have that complex carb effect that often shoots our glucose levels up many hours later.
