What are Gardetto's rye chips made of? ›

Enriched Flour (wheat flour, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), Vegetable Oil (soybean, high oleic soybean, canola, and/or high oleic canola oil), Rye Flour, Salt.

In early 2013, General Mills removed the sesame seed breadstick from the Gardetto's original recipe and replaced it with a different breadstick found in other popular snack mixes put out by General Mills.

As you can see from the scientific study above, the best Gardetto's are the little brown discs, officially known as "rye chips" but called by various regional nicknames. For some reason my middle school girlfriend called them "poop browns" and so I will forever call them "poop browns." Don't get mad at me Gardetto's.

The crunch of the all-carb bag is mighty. The seasoning is addictive, a powerful explosion of salt, salt, garlic, and salt -- and apparently dried Worcestershire sauce, onion, baking soda, caraway, and a million chemical-sounding ingredients.

The two mixes have many of the same “snack bits” in common– both have the rye chips, pretzels, and curvy breadsticks. However, the Gardettos do not have the actual “chex”, and the Chex Mix do not have the larger, more rounded breadsticks.

Why does Gardettos call it the "original recipe" when they took out the bread piece with the sesame seeds on top? It's bugged me for a few years now. It was the best piece. Sesame seeds are so expensive now.
