It is rich in various kinds of meat (pork, chicken, beef) and famous for its excellent bread and delicious sausages. 1)Pierogi (Polish dumplings)

Dumplings are made of thinly rolled-out dough filled with a variety of fillings. Pierogi are served in a variety of flavours thanks to different kinds of filling inside the dough. The most common ones are the ones with cabbage & wild mushroom, meat and potato & white cheese filling. As well in some regions of Poland you can try pierogi with fruits like forest fruits, strawberries or cherries served with cream and sugar. Pierogi is a Polish food that’s always served for Christmas.

2)Placki ziemniaczane (potato pancakes)

A thin pancake made with grated onion, carrot, parsnips or other vegetables. Delicious served hot either sprinkled with sugar or dolloped with sour cream

3)Rosół (broth/chicken soup)

Rosół is the most common soup served in Poland. It is very easy and quick to prepare, commonly served with homemade noodles. The ingredients needed for the soup are water, any piece of chicken, onion, small leek, onion, green celery, parsley, cabbage, salt and pepper.

A popular sour soup with pieces of sausage, potatoes and eggs served in a bread bowl that you can eat as well.

5)Barszcz (betroot soup)

Another interesting soup is barszcz, soup made from beetroots. There are a few different types of barszcz, but the most popular are two types: betroot soup as a bullion and barszcz with plenty of vegetables, potatoes and beans. Both are great and very healthy.

6)Gołąbki (cabbage roll)

Another interesting dish is called gołąbki. Literally the name means pigeons but don’t worry, it doesn’t have any pigeon in it! Gołąbki are made with pork or beef mince and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves. The are served with potatoes and a tomato sauce. There are a few vegetarian variations of this dish that instead of meat use bulgur and wild mushroom or potatoes and white cheese

There are also other variations of fillings such as poultry, mutton or without meat. Before serving cabbage are simmered /fried in fat.

7)Łazanki z kapustą i grzybami

It is a very simple dish consisting cabbage, pork meat, homemade pasta noodles and vegetables (chopped onions and sliced carrot). It is delicious and easy to make.
