Snowball Cookie Recipe with Pecans - Live Laugh Rowe (1)I recently stumbled upon this Pecan Puff cookie recipe, thinking it looked very similar to my Russian Tea Cakes. However, they did appear to have some varying ingredients.

So I went to handy-dandy google. As I was searching for Pecan Puff Cookies, Snowball Cookies appeared. And that brings us here, to today’s post and it being titled Snowball Cookie recipe.

Snowball Cookie Recipe with Pecans - Live Laugh Rowe (2)I had the family over for some coffee and cookies this weekend — and as you can imagine, these were being scarfed down. My parents said they did taste a little different from the Russian Tea Cookies we make; however, we all really enjoyed them.

Plus, if you enjoy pecans, these cookies are going to be such a treat. You can easily substitute almonds or walnuts for the pecans too.

How to make Snowball Cookies

This Snowball Cookie recipe is so simple to make. Let’s take a quick look.

Combine butter, sugar, pecans, flour and vanilla extract in a large bowl and mix with your hand (or baking utensil of choice).

Using a tablespoon, scoop out a heaping spoonful of the crumbly dough and roll into a one-inch ball (approximately speaking). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350F for about 20-25 minutes.

Roll each ball in powdered sugar. Let them cool, completely. And roll them in powdered sugar again. Store in an airtight container.

Snowball Cookie Recipe with Pecans - Live Laugh Rowe (3)Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right? The most tedious part is rolling between 36 and 48 “snowballs.” If you have some helping hands around the house, be sure to recruit them. Make some special holiday memories in the kitchen together.

This Snowball Cookie Recipe is one that pairs perfectly with milk, so be sure to have some of that on hand too. And if you should decide to keep a plate of them on the counter, beware… they may disappear quickly (wink wink). Enjoy.

I got this recipe from my mother, who got it from my grandmother. They were called “Butter Balls” but are the identical recipe. I can’t remember a Christmas without them—and that’s a whole lot of Christmases. That was the only time these cookies were made so they are very special to me especially since Mom and Grandma are no longer with us. These are very rich, “can’t-stop-eating-them” cookies, and they are, as you may have guessed, on my Christmas cookie baking list.

My Granny made these every year and brought them with her at Christmas. I make them every Christmas as well. She made these, “Trash” (Chex Mix), Peanut Butter Cookies, and Banana Nut Bread. I keep the tradition alive. My brothers really enjoy that.
