There aren't too many big surprises with how EA Sports assessed the ratings for the latest edition of its game. Of the teams that ranked within the top five for yardage last year, four cracked EA Sports' top five offensive team ratings, with only the Chiefs — who traded Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins — dropping from the group. The Browns, who traded for Deshaun Watson and Amari Cooper this offseason, made it as the fifth team in a tie with the Cowboys, who traded Cooper to Cleveland but tallied the most total yards in 2021.

Tampa Bay is the complete package for Madden players. Tom Brady is the highest-rated quarterback in the game and Mike Evans is the seventh-ranked wide receiver. No team has a higher No. 2 receiver than Chris Godwin at 89 overall. There's also plenty of protection for Brady as Tristan Wirfs grades as the No. 2 right tackle and Ryan Jensen ranks as the third center. Leonard Fournette earned an 87 overall, which is good for a tie for the 11th-best running back. The biggest absence for the offense comes at tight end, with Rob Gronkowski retiring.

Bills (89)
Who wouldn't want to play as the Bills' offense? There's Josh Allen, who is the No. 4 quarterback with the strongest arm (99 throw power) while also boasting one of the best speed ratings at 89. Stefon Diggs ranks as the fifth-best wide receiver and Dawson Knox is the 11th-best tight end. The wide receiver room is rounded out with two 80 overall receivers in Gabriel Davis and Jamison Crowder, while running back Devin Singletary has an 81 overall rating. The offensive line has two 80-plus members with left tackle Dion Dawkins (83) and left guard Rodger Saffold III (80).
Chargers (88)
There are going to be plenty out there who will dispute Justin Herbert's rating of 88, but Los Angeles looks like an offense that will get results for users. Keenan Allen is the eighth-highest wide receiver at 91, and only the Buccaneers and Seahawks have a No. 2 wide receiver rated higher than Mike Williams at 86. Austin Ekeler comes in as the ninth-best running back at 88. The offensive line boasts a strong group with Corey Linsley (91) as the top-rated center and left tackle Rashawn Slater (84) tied for the seventh-highest rated at his position.

Giants (68)
The worst offense in Madden 23 is New York, one of only two teams with an offensive rating below 70. Saquon Barkley provides the most hope for the offense as he checks in tied for the 13th-best running back at 86. Daniel Jones can run a bit with a speed rating of 88 and he's not a bad passer (87 throw power and 89 accuracy), but that overall rating of 70 is not good. Sterling Shepard (82) and Kenny Golladay (81) give him at least two receivers with 80-plus ratings, but the top offensive lineman is rookie tackle Evan Neal at 77. Prepare for plenty of scrambles with Jones.
Bears (69)
Much of the offseason discussion around Chicago has been about how the team gave Justin Fields nothing to build around. That's certainly evident in their Madden rating. David Montgomery (84) and Cody Whitehair (80) are the only two players on the Bears with a Madden rating above 80. Darnell Mooney (79) and Byron Pringle (75) are the top-two wide receivers. Fields (74) could still provide some excitement (fourth-best speed with a 90 rating) and he's tied with Lamar Jackson for the second-most throw power of any quarterback with at least a 90 speed rating (92), but without any quality targets, there will be more frustrating moments than fun moments with this team.
Seahawks (70)
The Seahawks have one of the best wide receiver pairings in the game with Tyler Lockett (90) and DK Metcalf (89), and a top-15 tight end in Noah Fant. But that's about where the excitement stops. Seattle doesn't have an offensive lineman with a rating above 78. Drew Lock is the 47th-best quarterback in the game and ranks behind 14 backup quarterbacks.
