2008 has been full a lot of negativity for my wife and I. I started a fight with brain tumors in March and continue to fight on. She has finally seen that it is time to enjoy what I enjoy so she wants to get a bike and learn to ride with me. She has never ridden before except this weekend. She passed the MSF test today. Crazy.. Anyhow now she wants to get out and ride. My 1200+ CC bike might be a bit much for her so I am looking for something 500cc or under. A good price is appreciated too since I am in medical bill hell. If you have something lying about that runs good, is safe and registerable please hit me up here or send me a PM.

Thanks All

Ride Safe

Michael

Hey Michael,
I don't really have anything for sale, but my wife recently switched from a suzuki savage 650, to a gs500e twin. The upright position of the gs makes it much easier to control... it is light and not too tall. I actually ride it at times too and it's pretty fun. Just wanted to make a recommendation (kawasaki 500 ninja should be just as good if you prefer it... handle a bit better, but also a bit heavier).
good like with the bike, and even more so with your health.

Hi! I have a gs500 for sale. Its a 2006 with about 1000 miles on it. Basically I bought it new, broke it in and then bought a new bike. I shaved the seat (I'm only 5'4) so I could flat-foot so its all set up to be a beginner-lady bike. I've got it listed on Cl for $3500. Let me know if you're interested. i've got an 06 gs500f. i bought it last summer with ~7k miles and it's ~16k now. $2300. registration is good til june 09.chain and sprockets look good. some cosmetic rust due to me wanting to take it in the rain. haha. tires have ~5-8k miles left. it's ready to ride anywhere. i have no hesitation taking it on long rides. i often took it to the bay from sac and back.

it has a lot of little issues to it such as looks. i've personally dropped it 3 times while not on or less than 1mph moving. it was dropped at least two times before i bought it. it sure is not pretty right now but decent looking(to me. i have the "it's just plastic mentality"). mechanically, there are minor issues that have recently come up and i suspect that it needs a carb cleaning and maybe valve adjustment. it needs more of a warmup time now. it will get going after say 2 minutes warmup but i tend to keep it at higher rpms for the first few miles. after a few miles, there are no problems.

it has a little headshake if you take both hand off the handlebars at ~50-40mph on decel. i'm confident that it is due to the tires needing a balance.

MillieMoMaynard's bike sounds like a great deal if it's an F.
i'm a crappy salesman.lol. not really looking to move it but if it sound like what you can take on, pm me your number and i can give you a lot more details.
if you're not in a hurry to buy, i should have the carbs gone through in the next month, check and adjust the valves if necessary. price will probably go up if i even want to sell it later. this is just an offer on a whim right now.

a gs is a good choice for a beginner's bike. the only things i don't like about this bike is that it would have been better if it had a better charging system and a little more hp. i cruise 75-80 on the freeways no problem but often i wish it could pass cars a little faster at those speeds and above.

here are pics of the ad that was posted when i bought it. i blacked out the previous owner's info.

I don't know if you have found a bike for your wife yet but I have one of my Honda 599's for sale. These are great bikes for both beginner and experienced riders. I don't really want to sell the bike but our tightening economy is killing me.
I hope your fight is going well and that you are ahead of the enemy.

2006 Derbi GPR 125 (2 stroke) Racing Sport Bike

Wife is pregenant and I am selling my 2006 Derbi GPR 125 Racing and these are competitors to the Aprilia RS 125 and are about 85-90% the size of a full sport bike and are super fun and would be a great starter sport bike and mine is street legal and located in Dallas. These run a Yamaha 125 2 stroke motors so parts and internal work could be completed at any Yamaha dealership if needed.

Here are pictures.

I've got a nice little 1992 Bandit 400 for sale. It's got about 22k miles and runs strong. I haven't gotten around to posting it on CL yet, but I was thinking somewhere around $1400 would be a very fair price. Let me know if you are interested and/or want more details.

I have a very very clean 2000 SV650S that I am in the process of rebuilding for sale ( body and frame are excellent), the motor is being pulled for transmission work, pistons, rings, rod bearings, etc.
