We always try to have fish a couple of nights a week, it’s so quick to cook, plus it’s low in fat, high in protein, and full of healthy Omega-3s. Although I love to use my air fryer when it comes to making fish, the oven is great for larger portions.

This easy oven-baked fish recipe is so effortless to make; it’s the perfect option after a long and busy day. It takes minutes to prep, and it’s quick to cook so that you can get a tasty, healthy, and filling dinner on the table in no time.

What’s the best fish to use?

I like to make this recipe with white fish like cod, tilapia, or halibut, but it will work well with salmon too. It’s best to use fairly thick fillets that will stay nice and moist when they are baked. I prefer to use skinless, as this method doesn’t get the skin crispy, but you can use fish with the skin on it.

Can you use frozen fish?

When it comes to fish fillets, I find that fresh have a better texture, but if you only have frozen, they will work well too. Be sure to thoroughly defrost them and pat them dry to remove excess moisture which can make them soggy before seasoning and baking them.

What do you serve with it?

This easy oven-baked fish recipe is great to serve with your favorite veggie, rice, and potato side dishes and a dollop of Tartar Sauce! Try them with:

Recipe Notes and Tips

  • The thickness of your filets will determine how long they need to be baked. Thinner filets will cook faster in the oven.
  • Leftovers will keep well in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven on a lined baking sheet with a couple of tablespoons of water and lightly cover with foil. Bake at 275F for 15 minutes to warm through.
