Chick-fil-A fans visit the chain again and again for its classic chicken sandwich. Recently, the chain debuted its first-ever experiment with a new take on the classic sandwich, a Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich. The new sandwich has pimento cheese, honey, and pickled jalapeños topping the OG sandwich. And there’s one topping that fans are particularly enamored with.

The pimento cheese is integral to the making of the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, and it’s not just available as a topping on the sandwich. Apparently, you can get the pimento cheese as a side, too.

Allrecipes' writer Bailey Fink tried the new sandwich when it launched last month and had this to say about the pimento cheese: "The Chick-fil-A pimento cheese is the best part of the new sandwich. In fact, I wanted morepimento cheese on the sandwich because it was so good—it's sharp and cheesy and it gets nice and melty on the hot sandwich, which makes it the perfect condiment. When I found out you can order it as a side (thanks to the pro tip from the Chick-fil-A team), I knew I'd be ordering it for my regular spicy deluxe sandwich and just adding it to that sandwich. Though the team said it's a game-changer on Chick-fil-A's waffle fries—and I can't wait to try it that way."

In addition to using the spread as a dip for fries, some people are also adding the pimento cheese to Chick-fil-A’s macaroni and cheese, doubling down on the cheesy goodness.

What Is Pimento Cheese?

Pimento cheese is a spread that’s popular in the South. It’s made with shredded Cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, and pimento peppers, though cream cheese is often added for texture and taste along with a few seasonings and spices. And while it may not be the most attractive-looking spread in the world, it wins big time for its cheesy, tangy taste and creamy texture.

The Chick-fil-A version is custom-made, and according to the brand, “The combination of sharp cheddar cheese, green chilis and red pimentos work together to create a savory, melty spread.” If you’re eager to try it, don’t wait. The Honey Pepper Pimento Sandwich is a limited-time offering, which means the pimento cheese itself may be, too.
