Add just the right note to the festivities. Sprite. Exuberant. Switched on. Noisy. Like nothing you’ve heard before. Look for five easy-to-mix holiday punch recipes free in cartons of Sprite. So tart and tingling, we just couldn’t keep it quiet. Here’s a punch that comes in loud and clear.

Sprite Modhouse Punch (1966)

Yield: 48 4-ounce servings

Ingredients

  • 1 6-ounce package lime-flavored gelatin
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 to 1 cup bottled lime juice
  • 2 12-ounce cans frozen concentrate for limeade
  • 90 ounces of Sprite
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

Dissolve gelatin in hot water. Then stir in frozen concentrate for limeade. Add lime juice.

To serve, pour into bowl over 1-1/2 quarts of cracked ice. Add Sprite.

Makes 48 4-ounce servings. If you like a little more spirit, add a fifth of vodka.

2. Christmas wreath punch (1967)

Sunny Florida citrus is the star of this tart, sparkling punch

Ingredients

6 cans (6 0z. each) frozen Florida orange juice concentrate, undiluted
1-1/2 cups light corn syrup
5 quarts ginger ale, chilled
1/4 cup lime juice

Directions

Combine orange juice concentrate, corn syrup, lime juice. Mix thoroughly.

Just before serving, add ginger ale and ice ring (recipe below). Yield: About 50 1/2-cup servings.

Christmas ice ring

Fill a 6-cup ring mold 2/3 full with water; freeze. Alternate orange wedges, peel side down, with red and green maraschino cherries (3 in each group) on top of ice.

Add thin layer of water; freeze 30 minutes or until oranges and cherries are firmly in place. Slowly add water to top; freeze. To unmold, run warm water on sides of mold.

Sprite Spicy Punch (1966)

Yield: 38 4-oz. servings

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 12 bottles of Sprite [8 to 10 ounces each]
  • (food coloring, if desired)
  • Combine all ingredients except Sprite. Add food coloring, if desired. Chill. Add cold Sprite just before serving. Makes 38 4-oz. servings. If desired, add 1 part blended whiskey to 5 parts punch. Also good with brandy or rum.

Tingle Bells Punch recipe (1965)

Ingredients

2 quarts cranberry juice
1 can (6 ounces) frozen Minute Maid Lemonade Concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup maraschino cherry juice
6 bottles 10-ounce Sprite,well-chilled

Directions

Combine all ingredients. Serve over ice in punch bowl. Garnish with lemon slice, orange wedge and maraschino cherry alternated on co*cktail picks.

Makes about 40 4-ounce servings

5. 7-UP red satin punch recipe

Have a ball with a bowl of punch! Make it red as Santa’s suit. And make it with 7-Up! Seven-Up gives it brilliant sparkle. And 7-Up brings its own fresh, clean taste that accents (never covers!) the flavors of other ingredients. P. S. Have plenty of 7-Up for drinking “as is,” too.

Ingredients

2 pints cranberry juice
1 quart apple juice
10 7-ounce bottles 7-Up (about 9 cups)
2 trays 7-Up “ice” cubes

Directions

Chill fruit juices and 7-Up. Prepare 7-Up “ice” cubes by pouring additional 7-Up into 2 ice cube trays. Freeze. At serving time, combine cranberry juice and apple juice in a punch bowl. Slowly pour in 7-Up. Add “ice” cubes. Makes about 35 punch cup servings.
