Come spring, I am always gravitating towards a lot of the same essentials. Which is basically this outfit! Denim never truly goes anywhere for me no matter the weather so that one’s a no-brainer. I tend to pair my favorite jeans with perfect spring pieces. A few favorites that survive year after year include classic espadrilles, floral prints, and also a classic striped tee and utility jacket combo. Spring fashion with denim is probably my FAVORITE style to dress for. It’s comfortable, casual and easily elevated by swapping a few things to dress it up a bit.
Here’s the great thing about spring outfits with denim is that it doesn’t have to just be jeans! Today’s outfit is truly my go to and the easiest to put together. But thinking outside the box and outside just skinny jeans is what today’s post is all about!
Casual Spring Outfits With Denim
You can swap out some of your favorite things for their denim counterparts. Denim dresses, denim jackets, and even denim skirts are all great choices for spring and summer. They’re casual, comfortable and simply classic. But also think outside just blue denim too. There’s white denim, blush denim like this great jacket, and new silhouettes like wide leg, cropped wide pants and more. The denim options are limitless!
Casual Spring Outfit Ideas
Let’s think beyond just plain old skinny jeans or jean shorts for spring. I mean, I love them don’t get me wrong. But it’s always nice to change things up and try some new looks and extend your closet a bit!
Denim Jackets
Hands down my most worn jacket for spring and summer. Denim outfits don’t HAVE to be denim jeans. Although you can totally do a Canadian tuxedo and it is just perfection. But jean jackets are a really ideal casual spring piece to always have on hand. I have a few from oversized boyfriend styles, to more fitted and dark wash ones. They’re great to layer over jumpsuits, midi or maxi skirts, or your favorite non-denim shorts. And don’t be scared to mix and match denim, it’s totally hot right now and easy to do! Denim & Floral Prints
A go-to combination that feels so perfect for spring. Florals are just always a spring fashion necessity. Whether it’s a floral shoe, top, jacket or even bag, adding a floral element to your denim is the easiest way to make your casual outfit feel more feminine and elevated.

Denim Skirts & Dresses
There’s always a great denim skirt in my closet year after year. They’ve definitely ranged from mini skirts to pencil, and back to mini. Choose the silhouette you normally love to wear and give it a go! This year I finally invested in a fun denim dress that I just love. It’s perfect with white sneakers and a simple spring bag. Another favorite combination is a simple denim skirt paired with white sneakers and a white tee. It’s so classic and all you need is a spring bag in a fun color and you’re set!

Different Silhouettes & Washes
You don’t HAVE to wear skinny jeans all the time. I’m the first one to grab my wide leg jeans, wide leg crop or boyfriend jeans. You can choose mom jeans, high waisted jeans, whatever, there are SO many options. For spring and summer though, I like to try to reach for more lighter wash denim so it feels more seasonally appropriate.
